Project Status Reports that Stupefy

My status meetings take hours and we don't seem to get anything done. Any suggestions?

I set a time limit on progress meetings of 15 minutes. They often extend to 30 minutes, which is ok, but after that I find that being very assertive and using expressions like "We can set up a meeting to discuss this issue separately" tends to work. Put simply, people like to talk.
