Top-Down Project Planning
Watch the video on top-down planning and I think you'll see why it is far preferable to the usual approach to planning which is a "What should we do first?" That always leads to scope creep and over-runs. Does this happen in your organization?

This is the first of the emails that I've had a chance to really take time to read (not just gloss over). Like your training material this was excellent. Now that I've passed the PMP exam, I'll begin to take the time to READ the other email that you send me to enhance and refine my skills and understanding in PM.
There was excellent pratical advice in this video. I have seen many people in a large Fortune 100 Company that I worked with jump all over to-do's without establishing objectives and measure of successes. I have been guilty of this myself as well. Those who have a lot of initiative can be misguided by not establishing a top down methodology before establishing to do items. I look forward to getting deeper into the planning process.
This video made a lot of sense with its practical advice. I have experienced this disease of to-do vs. accountability at a Fortune 100 company that I worked for in ths past. I have even been guilty of doing it myself. Many people who are driven and have significant self-initiative can be misguided if they start right in on to-do's before establishing the Measure of Success (MOS). I look forward to getting deeper into the Top Down Planning Process.
This video offered some very practical and sobering advice. I have been guilty myself of jumping all over to-do items without first establishing parameters and Measure of Success (MOS). I have seen it too often in a Fortune 100 company that I worked for in the past. Those people who are self-driven and who have a lot of initiative can easily be caught up with to-do's if they are not guided properly. I look forward to getting into the Top Down Planning process deeper in order to establish clear performance expectations and clarity of scope and objectives.
