I'm on a failing project where the sponsor at first wanted direct involvement. Has provided approval on each and every item. Now that the projects in trouble he wants to now take on the hands off sponsor approach after he's thrown the PM to the wolfs.
I had a project where the IT PM left suddenly due to failing heart conditions. The Manager who temporarily took his place didn't like my plan and so he escalated the project on me - right up to my Director and his. Then after he got what he wanted, he sent me an email that said, "I hope you didn't get too much grief over this project". No response from me.
