| Planning: Top Down Business Outcomes Using the AdPM™ methodology, we start by working with project executives to establish their strategic outcomes and craft unambiguous control points for them. Then we work with stakeholders to build a network of hard-edged business achievements leading to those strategic outcomes. The AdPM™ achievement network gives the project a sharp and crystal-clear focus. |
 |
Estimates and Risk Management
Using the AdPM™ achievement network, we develop high-level estimates of resource requirements, time and cost for each achievement. We then assess the risks the project faces and develop action plans to mitigate them. Last, we design the accountability and authority for managing the project and controlling changes to the plan. We present these elements in a concise Broadbrush Plan, for executive review and modification. |
 |
Work Breakdown Structure
With the Broadbrush Plan approved, we decompose the AdPM™ network into a Work Breakdown Structure, subdividing down to the level of the "right-sized" assignment for each of our team members. We design a clear outcome for which each person is accountable before they start work.
These AdPM™ achievements are also the basis for our final duration and work estimates. Each person has a crystal clear outcome they are accountable for delivering and an estimated work and duration to which they commit. |
 |
MS Project Scheduling Optimization
We then build a dynamic project schedule in MS Project which allows us to quickly model options for executives and track actuals in minutes a week.
We develop AdPM™ trade-offs where we give executive alternative durations. budgets, and project achievements so they can select the option that best fits their strategy. |

Status: Spot Problems Early
The clarity in the project plan and our AdPM™ tracking lets us spot problems early; when there is still time to take corrective actions. Our design also prevents endless escalations to senior management. |
