Syllabus

Advanced Project Management Techniques
by Dick Billows, PMP, GCA
Read about how a project manager plans the project with multiple stakeholders, gathers requirements, estimates costs and durations. Then see the risk management process and how the PM develops risk mitigation plans. You also learn how to motivate a team, make clear assignment tailored to each person and resolve stakeholder conflicts. Last, you learn to track progress and report status..
Lectures When it Fits Your Schedule... Sample Video Lecture
Dick Billows, PMP, GCA expands on the ideas in your reading with real world examples drawn from his 20 years of experience as a project and program manager. Dick explains techniques for dealing with large stakeholder groups, difficult team members and contractors. Dick also takes you through the process of "selling" the project and your plan to executives and dealing with their objections and changes. Then you go through the best practice steps in estimating, risk management, creating dynamic schedules in MS® Project, modeling alternatives, managing conflict, using earned value analysis, and controlling scope. Watch the lectures whenever and as often as you wish with no time limits. They're a great ongoing reference.
3. Project Managers in Action Videos: Assess Their Work

At the end of each module, you'll watch a video of a project manager estimating with their team, working with poor performers and planning with an executive. Then evaluate the PM's work. Submit your analysis to your instructor and get written feedback and discussion about the right way to handle the situations.

4. Practice Every Tool and technique with 1-to-1 Coaching

Practice all the techniques in 14 case study-based assignments and in private 1-to-1 role playing simulations with your instructor. You will gather requirements from stakeholders, negotiate with managers and present your plans and MS Project® schedules. Then you move on to assignments to track actual performance, use earned value to assess variances and plan corrective actions to solve problems.

You'll present your estimates of work and duration and your risk management plan and risk responses. You'll have to persuade the tough audience of executives that your plan is the right way to go.

You'll receive 1-to-1 feedback and coaching from your instructor on every assignment.

Sharpen Your People Skills in Role Playing Presentations
